MOTO RODEO
March 7-9, 2025
2 Day Extreme Ride

Price:

$225 per rider, includes two days of riding and camping Friday and Saturday night.
Entries limited to 40 riders total, we encourage riders to be “A level” or very experienced in technical terrain to attend this event. We will have a Not So Extreme option for riders that want to do the bypass options in the harder stuff and ride a mellower version of the extreme loops. If you’re not comfortable in technical terrain we encourage to sit this one out and join us for GRINduro 10 in December of 2025.

Four-strokes must have exhaust wrap on the header pipe to prevent grass fires

Header wrap can be purchased at this link

Reminders:

Please show up with your bike ready to go, groups will leave at 9:00am and we will not delay start times

Stay to the right on roads, especially the main caliche road as there could be truck traffic and other group traffic

You are responsible for the rider behind you, make sure that when making a turn at a split that the rider behind you sees it

If a rider behind you indicates that he or she would like to pass, please wave them by

Moto Rodeo, what to expect:

The ride will feature challenging expert level terrain.  You can expect hill climbs, big descents, and very technical river beds littered with rocks.  If you like challenging yourself, this is for you. Guides will be there to help anyone through obstacles that may need it.  There will be bailout options for those that don’t wish to complete certain obstacles.  This ride will make the bench racing on the way home that much better!  The extreme ride is much more about technical riding than it is going fast.  Most sections will be first and second gear only but your heart rate will be up! Make sure your clutch and brakes are in good operating condition.

The Trail

This year we have two, thirty mile loops of our most technical bits of trail. If you have attended the GRINduro event in the past, it will be two days of terrain that was part of the extreme loop plus a new loop across the highway of challenging terrain.  There will be places that you see green and orange on the same section of trail, don’t panic as there are transfer sections for the extreme loop that use the main loop.  Your guides will know where to go.  The trail is marked for trail riding so please keep that in mind.  Stay on trail and don’t shortcut if you see another rider, you might end up in a hole or cutting off much more trail than you think you will be.

Guided rides, what to expect:

This is a trail ride, not a race. Riders will be split among guides into predetermined groups.  The group name on your wristband is the group that you must start with first Saturday morning.  If the group that you elected to go with is having to wait an excessive amount, you will be moved to another group; that doesn’t mean to go faster and get hurt. It’s for the safety and enjoyment of everyone who made the trip to be here.  All groups will ride trails that consist of flowing cedar sections, technical riverbeds, canyons, bulldozer cuts, and more!  There will be multiple stops to enjoy the views and regroup along the way.  Pace yourself as it is a long weekend of riding. This year we will be riding across the highway and that requires groups to briefly ride across hwy 669 to a gate.  We will have a person there to assist a safe crossing but please be sure to stop and look both ways multiple times before crossing.  Your group is not going to leave you behind if you wait a few seconds longer to make sure the road is clear.  We have had an extremely dry fall so if you’re on a four-stroke you must have header wrap on your bike to participate.  Please be mindful to not stop in tall grass, this is how fires can start.  Many of the trails run down creek beds so be sure to ride the edges or banks if you see a sink hole or big mud rut in front of you.

Things to consider:
We have lots of mesquite trees and cactus at the ranch so we encourage you to use bibs or at the very least use heavy-duty tubes with sealant. The dirt is sandy hard-pack and we recommend either a soft terrain tire up front and something that wears longer in the rear. Our elevation is 3,000ft so jet accordingly. In March the temps range from 80 degrees to 30, so bring appropriate riding gear. Hand guards or deflectors are recommended. Guides will carry fanny packs with tools but we also encourage you to be self-sufficient on rides like this.

Lodging info:

There will be room for campers and rvs.  Campfires are not allowed under any circumstances. There will be a community fire that people who are camping are welcome to come and enjoy.

What to expect:

The idea behind this ride is to get a group of enthusiasts together for an epic weekend of riding trails that aren't typically available for riding. We’ve had a lot of requests for an event that does two days of our extreme loop so we are giving it a go!

Riding outside of the camp area is only permitted with guides.  There will be alternate sections marked for certain portion of trails that will allow an easier route around challenging terrain.   If you are not an A level rider we encourage to sit this one out and join us for GRINduro 10 in December of 2025.  No ATVs or pit vehicles allowed.  Mountain bikes are welcome!

The trails will range from bulldozer cuts through the caprock to technical sandy river beds and flowing cedar sections.  We highly recommend running bibs and at the least, heavy duty tubes with sealant.  Elevation is 3,200ft so jet accordingly.  Temps range from the thirties to seventies in March.  Groups can expect some excellent views and multiple stops at the waterfall so bring a camera!
